About Pixel Wonderland Academy

Licensed Group Child Care serving the Fleetwood community of Surrey, BC since 2024.

Our Story

Pixel Wonderland Academy started with a simple belief: that the best care for young children happens in warm, intimate settings where every child is truly known — not managed in a crowd.

Pixel Wonderland Academy opened in Fleetwood, Surrey BC in 2024, founded by Zoe Zong — a BC ECE-certified educator who, before opening here, spent years as a Lead Teacher inside a larger childcare program. Zoe saw firsthand what gets lost at scale: consistency, deep relationships, and the kind of care that feels like family.

Today we operate two Licensed Group Child Care locations on 163A Street in Fleetwood — Little Ones House (9256) for children 0–36 months, and Big Kids House (9270) for children 30 months to school age. Together we serve families with children from birth through kindergarten. Every day, our small team — led by BC ECE-certified educators — shows up not just to provide childcare, but to be part of our children's stories.

🌱

Our Philosophy

We believe every child arrives already curious, capable, and worthy of deep respect. Our job is not to fill them up with knowledge — it's to create the conditions where they can explore, discover, and grow at their own pace.

Play is the work of childhood. Our programs are designed around this truth, guided by BC's Early Learning Framework and a genuine love for the children in our care.

How we approach learning

BC's Early Learning Framework guides everything

BC publishes an Early Learning Framework for licensed providers and public-school kindergarten teachers alike. It centres on four areas: well-being and belonging, engagement with others, materials, and the world, communication and literacy, and personal and social responsibility. Our daily routines build all four — not as worksheets, but as a flow of real activities children move through together.

For the longer story on what this looks like daily and how it prepares children for BC kindergarten, see our essay Preschool to kindergarten — how we build K-readiness →

Why we keep groups small

The BC Group Child Care licence allows for substantially larger class sizes than what we operate. We choose smaller because of what we have seen in larger settings: children's relationships with educators get diluted, individual rhythms get flattened, and the calm of a real home environment gets lost. Small groups mean we know which child needs an extra song before nap, who is having a tough morning, and whose grandparent is visiting from out of town this week.

Multilingual welcome — not just acknowledged

Fleetwood is a multilingual community, and we welcome English-, Punjabi-, Korean-, and Chinese-speaking families. We work with families on dietary needs and cultural practices on a case-by-case basis at enrollment — including vegetarian and no-pork meal accommodations, allergy-aware kitchen practices, recognition of major cultural holidays, and respect for naming conventions. Specific accommodations (for example, formally certified halal sourcing) we'll review honestly with you on tour so you know exactly what we can and can't deliver.

Continuity from infant care to preschool

Our two licensed centres on 163A Street are walking distance apart. Children naturally graduate from Little Ones House (under 36 months) to Big Kids House (30 months to school age) when developmentally ready — not on a fixed birthday. The same brand, the same philosophy, often the same familiar faces. Siblings can attend both at once.

What we do not do

  • We do not push academic content prematurely
  • We do not run worksheet-based "lessons" for 3- and 4-year-olds
  • We do not promise specific reading levels or kindergarten benchmarks
  • We do not pretend to be larger than we are — we grow slowly and intentionally

What We Stand For

🏠

Home, Not Institution

Small groups in a real home. Familiar faces, consistent routines, and the emotional safety that comes from being truly known.

🎓

Professional Excellence

Our programs are led by BC ECE-certified educators. We invest in continuing education because we hold ourselves to the highest professional standard.

🤝

Partnership with Families

You know your child best. We share daily updates, stay available for questions, and treat parents as partners — not customers.

🌿

Nature & Outdoors

Daily outdoor time in all weather. We believe fresh air, mud, and nature are essential ingredients for healthy development.

🌈

Inclusion & Belonging

Every child belongs here. We welcome children of all abilities, backgrounds, and family structures with open arms.

📖

Lifelong Learning

We model curiosity, wonder, and learning for our children — because children learn as much from watching us as from anything we plan.

Our Team

Our programs are led by BC ECE-certified educators who bring genuine passion for early childhood development. Meet the people who will be with your child every day on a tour.

We introduce every prospective family to the educators in person during a tour — so you can ask questions, watch the room flow, and feel the rhythm of the day. Book a tour →
