Frequently Asked Questions

Everything parents ask us most — answered honestly.

Do you accept the Affordable Child Care Benefit (ACCB)?
Yes. We accept BC's Affordable Child Care Benefit. Eligibility and the monthly amount are based on household income, child age, and family size — current thresholds and amounts are published by the Province on the My Family Services portal. We'll help guide you through the application at enrollment.
What is the Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative (CCFRI)?
The CCFRI is a BC provincial program where registered providers pass a fee reduction directly to families. As a CCFRI-registered provider, no application is required from families; the discount is applied automatically each month. The exact reduction amount per child depends on the program type and is set by the Province — see your monthly statement for the current applied amount.
What is CCOF, and does it lower my fees?
CCOF (Child Care Operating Funding) is BC operating funding that supports licensed centres. We participate in CCOF, which helps us keep our base fees lower for all families. CCOF is NOT a subsidy parents apply for — it operates behind the scenes. The two programs that reduce what you personally pay are CCFRI (automatic) and ACCB (income-based application).
What ages do you serve?
Together our two locations serve children from birth to school age. Little Ones House (9256 163A St) holds a Group Child Care licence for 0–36 months — infants and toddlers are cared for in one combined class. Big Kids House (9270 163A St) holds a Group Child Care licence for 30 months to school age.
How many children are in each group?
We deliberately keep our class size small — well below the BC Group Child Care licensed maximum. Small groups are how children form real relationships with their educators and feel at home from day one.
What are your hours?
Both locations are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM. We are closed on all BC statutory holidays.
Are your educators ECE certified?
Our programs are led by BC Early Childhood Education (ECE) certified educators, with Infant/Toddler or Preschool specialization as appropriate to each program. All staff working with children maintain Standard First Aid and CPR certification per Fraser Health licensing requirements.
How do you communicate with parents throughout the day?
Through our parent app, you'll receive real-time photo updates, daily reports (meals, naps, mood, activities), and milestone notes. You'll always know how your child is doing.
Do children go outside every day?
Rain or shine. Daily outdoor time is part of our routine. We believe fresh air and nature exploration are essential for healthy development. We dress appropriately for all weather.
What is your sick child policy?
Children who are unwell should stay home to recover and to protect other children and staff. We follow Fraser Health and BCCDC illness guidelines. If your child becomes sick during the day, we will contact you to arrange pickup promptly.
How long is your waitlist?
Demand in Fleetwood is high — infant and toddler spots fill well in advance. We strongly recommend joining our waitlist as early as possible, even during pregnancy. Preschool spots open more often.
What meals and snacks do you provide?
Families send a packed lunch and snacks daily, and we'll talk through any allergy or dietary needs at enrollment. For infants, we follow your feeding schedule, including breast milk and formula. Specific snack arrangements vary by season and program — we'll cover the current routine on your tour.
Do you accept children with special needs?
Yes. We welcome children of all abilities. If your child has specific needs, we encourage you to contact us before applying so we can have an honest conversation about whether our setting and support can meet those needs well.
What is your policy on photos and social media?
Photos are shared exclusively through our secure parent app — only to the specific child's family. We never post identifiable photos of children to social media. Each family signs a photo consent form at enrollment.
What happens if I need to pick my child up late?
Our closing time is 5:30 PM. If you anticipate a late pickup, please contact us as early as possible. Late pickup fees apply after 5:30 PM.
Do you offer part-time care?
We primarily offer full-time care (Monday–Friday). Part-time spaces are occasionally available — contact us to ask about current availability.
Is parking available at both locations?
Yes. Street parking is available on 163A Street at both locations. Both homes are on residential streets with typically easy parking.
How do I apply for ACCB?
ACCB applications are made through BC's My Family Services portal. You'll need to complete a Child Care Arrangement Form (CF2798) together with us. We'll provide all the facility information you need and walk you through the process at enrollment.
What curriculum do you follow?
We use BC's Early Learning Framework as our guide. Our approach is play-based — children learn through exploration, investigation, and adult-supported play. We do not use a commercial preschool curriculum package.
